Welcome to Ms. Crowe's Corner!
Welcome, parents and students!
My name is Katie Crowe, and I am serving as the DHH student teacher at KMHS for the spring semester. I will use this site to share some of what we did in the classroom for our personal finance mini unit. During the week of 2/26, we discussed how to be good money managers through setting achievable, time-bound goals. Students also learned the basic components of a personal budget.
The kids did a wonderful job participating in class discussions! We learned that while it's wonderful to set future goals for ourselves, we have to break our goals down into steps in order to make them actually happen. Students also learned that being good stewards of our money means that we have to think carefully about our own spending and saving behaviors. Sometimes, we have to make tough decisions now in order to reap bigger rewards later. My hope is that students will apply the principles of personal finance that they learned in the classroom to money managing situations as adults. On this site, I have compiled a list resources for students to reference as they work towards independently managing their own finances.
